Introduction:

Vande Bharat Express is an inter-city semi-high-speed rail service operated by the Indian Railways. The predecessor of Shatabdi and Janashatabdi Express, these train services connect various Indian cities which can be reached within a time frame of 10 hours. The maximum permissible speed is limited to 160 km/h on a section of the Delhi-Bhopal service while maintaining a speed of 110–130 km/h on other services keeping in mind the Indian conditions like multiple stoppages, traffic congestion though these trains under Vande Bharat can achieve significant speeds.

The train has achieved a significant speed of 183 km/hr during its trial over the limit of 160 km/hr. Further, it can accelerate from 0-100 km within 52 seconds.

Design and development of Vande Bharat :

The trainset has been designed by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF).

Cost of Vande Bharat :

The cost of a 16-coach Vande Bharat train is about ₹115 crore (US$14 million).

First Run of Vande Bharat :

Seating Arrangement of Vande Bharat:

The train has two seating options, Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. The coaches are air-conditioned with a configuration of 2 x 3 in Chair Cars while the pit provides a 2 x 2 configuration in Executive Chair Cars.
