About Anand Mishra :
IPS Officer, Anand Mishra has been an ideal for many youths of Assam. His dedication towards his duty with dynamic body language and as a social media influencer made him renowned as “Singham” by the people of Assam. The Officer was born on 1st June 1989, originates from Bhojpur, Bihar hails from the state of West Bengal, and belongs to the Assam- Meghalaya cadre, IPS- 2011 batch securing 225th rank in the UPSC examination, 2010. The officer was honored with the prestigious Chief Misinter Police Medal Award” in the year 2020.

Glimpse of The Fearless Officer’s Career :
Anand Mishra served the Meghalaya government as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Shillong, East Khasi Hills District during his probation period and thereafter, he was transferred to Tura in West Garo Hills District in the same position and later promoted to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) for both the West Garo Hills District and the South West Garo Hills District.
After completion of his tenure, Anand Mishra joined the Assam Police where he served in various significant posts, including SP BI(EO), SP VIGILANCE & ANTI-CORRUPTION, and SP CHARAIDEO.
Mr. Mishra is currently posted as SP in Lakhimpur district of Assam being a part of the SIT which is probing the violence in the state of Manipur.
His Resignation :
The 2011-batch IPS officer, tendered his resignation from the service to pursue a life of “freedom and independence”, by submitting his resignation to the Assam Chief Secretary through the DGP on December 18, 2023.
In the letter, he wrote, “This is to submit my unconditional resignation from the IPS to pursue a life of freedom and independence that I want to realize through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of IPS.”
IPS officer Anand Mishra, talking to the media said, “I have served for about 12 years. The uniform is my first And last love. I devoted these 12 years to the service of people. But the thing is that there are certain sets of conduct rules within which you have to work when you stay in such a job. My dream is to work for the betterment of the people of my home state of Bihar, which I can do only by staying outside the service. That is the reason why I tendered my resignation.”
He further added, “I would even appeal to others not to take me as an example. I would also appeal to people to follow their passion.”
