The third and final game between India and Afghanistan at Chinnaswamy Stadium must have brought goosebumps to the audience and fans and what a match it has been to watch. It’s not every day in cricket that one sees double super-overs but this time it happened and that too after a very high-scoring match.

India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20 the match details-

India Batting 1st:

In India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20 India won the toss and batting 1st scored 212 runs in 20 overs losing all 4 wickets too early. It was Rohit Sharma today who remained not out 121 runs in 69 balls and made his highest T-20I runs. Rinku Singh on the other hand supported him till the last ball also remaining not out and scoring 69 runs out of 39 balls, his highest score in a T-20I match.

Afghanistan in the Chase:

Afganistan’s batters responded well to the Indian bowling attack resulting in a draw and scoring 212 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 6 wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, captain of the Afganistan Team both made their half-centuries while Gulbadin Naib scored 55 runs in just 23 balls and remained on the pitch being not out and getting the scores level.

India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20 match extended to Super over. The details are given below-

1st Super-over :

But this wasn’t the end as the Super-over was yet to be played. Afghanistan batted 1st and scored 16 runs in just 6 balls. There was a heat of conversation from both sides as the over-throw in the last ball got deflected touching the batter’s body and bringing 2 extra runs for the Afghanistan Team.

But today it seemed to be Rohit Sharma’s day as he hit 2 sixes and by his presence of mind he brought Rinku Singh to the runner’s end in the last ball declaring himself out. Yet in the last ball with a single run, India was able to just level the game again.

2nd Super-over:

This time Rohit Sharma got himself on the pitch with Rinku Singh on the other end. Rohit started hitting from the very 1st ball but Rinku Singh couldn’t do much to get the strike and was caught behind. Rohit Sharma too lost his wicket as run-out with one ball remaining and India scored 11 runs in the 2nd Super-over.

Rohit Sharma made another brilliant decision by putting the ball in Ravi Bishnoi’s hand and being an experienced bowler he was able to take the two wickets required to win the match for India.

Conclusion:

It was a great match to see India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20 players gear themselves up to make it very difficult for the Indian side to win and they must be happy with their improvement in performances. Rashid Khan’s absence was felt throughout the series. As told by Ibrahim Zadran, the captain of the Afghanistan team in the post-match presentation ceremony they are looking forward to the upcoming Sri Lanka series and of course, the T-20 World Cup and hopefully Afghanistan will become strong.

India too has young players like Shivan Dube, Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravi Bishnoi and others who have proved their capabilities and can take responsibility in times of need. Considering these facts it can be again said that the future of Indian Cricket is in good hands.
